The City of Chandler’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Division will celebrate Juneteenth and Freedom Week by co-hosting the third annual Culture Music in the Park event on Saturday, June 15, from 7-9:30 p.m. at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park West, located at 3 S. Arizona Ave.
The public is invited to enjoy live music by Vaughn Willis & Ear Candy. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for comfort between musical sets, enjoy food from local vendors available for purchase, and stay cool with misters onsite.
The event is co-hosted by Chandler’s DEI Division along with the South Chandler Self-Help Foundation and Ready, Set, Go! Foundation.
Additionally, the city’s DEI Division is a sponsor of the annual Miss Juneteenth Arizona Scholarship and Pageant organized by the South Chandler Self-Help Foundation. The pageant will take place on Friday, June 14, starting at 6 p.m., at the Chandler Center for the Arts, located at 250 N. Arizona Ave.
This pageant celebrates history, culture, and community. According to organizers, attendees "are not only supporting the contestants; they are honoring the legacy of Juneteenth and contributing to the empowerment of future leaders." Tickets can be purchased online at Miss Juneteenth Arizona.
