The Mesa Police Department has introduced a new method for residents to report illegal fireworks anonymously. From July 1, 2024, through July 6, 2024, individuals witnessing illegal firework activity can report it via the City of Mesa website (mesaaz.gov) under the “Residents” tab, “Police,” and then “Report Fireworks.” Residents have the option to submit requests anonymously before filing their complaints. These submissions generate emails sent to a specific mailbox monitored continuously.

Special Operations lieutenants, sergeants, and the Real Time Crime Center oversee this mailbox to ensure all complaints are addressed. Verified complaints, confirmed by patrol officers or through video monitoring by the Real Time Crime Center, will prompt officers to investigate the reported area.

To address illegal firework activities more effectively, a dedicated team of Mesa police officers will handle firework-specific calls on July 4th. Additionally, both Mesa Police and Fire Departments will inspect pop-up tents selling fireworks as part of their ongoing enforcement efforts.

For further information on legal versus illegal fireworks, please visit: https://fire.mesaaz.gov/community-outreach/fireworks.
