The City of Chandler is progressing with enhancements for Gazelle Meadows Park in the Galveston neighborhood. During the August 15th Chandler City Council meeting, agreements were granted to Achen-Gardner Construction, LLC, for the park's renovation construction and to Ardurra Group for construction management services.
These contracts facilitate the commencement of Phase 2 upgrades at Gazelle Meadows Park, located at 500 N. Exeter Street. Planned improvements include a new basketball court, parking lot, drop-off area on Exeter Street, and additional park furnishings.
Gazelle Meadows Park was initially developed as a retention basin in 1985, with amenities added in 1992. The city completed a final master plan report for proposed renovations in March 2023, and construction plans were finalized in July 2024.
The renovations are part of broader improvements within the Galveston neighborhood, addressing storm drain, potable water, and sanitary sewer systems. These efforts will direct stormwater from the neighborhood to the existing Detroit Basin (Gazelle Meadows Park). As a result, approximately 261 residential properties will be removed from the floodplain, enhancing community safety and potentially reducing costs for property owners.
