Congressman Andy Biggs has called for transparency from the Biden-Harris Department of Justice concerning reports of illegal aliens assaulting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents at the southwest border. In Fiscal Year 2023, CBP recorded 610 assaults on agents, with at least 413 reported in Fiscal Year 2024.

In August, CBP highlighted a "significant rise" in assaults within the El Paso Sector. Concerns have been raised about the DOJ's alleged failure to prosecute those who attack federal officers, which is believed to affect morale among CBP personnel. Congressman Biggs emphasized the importance of prosecuting individuals not only for illegal entry but also for assaulting federal officers.

“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s egregious open border policies incentivize mass illegal immigration and open our country to violent criminals from around the globe,” stated Congressman Biggs.

“Our Border Patrol Agents put their lives on the line every single day and deserve much more respect than they’ve been given by this rogue administration. That agents are being assaulted in the first place is despicable, but DOJ’s failure to prosecute them accordingly is unacceptable."

Biggs expressed gratitude for his colleagues' support as they await responses from Attorney General Merrick Garland's DOJ.

The letters addressed to Deputy Commissioner Troy Miller and AG Garland can be accessed online, with coverage by Fox News available as well.
