Today, Congressman Andy Biggs from Arizona introduced the Congressional Border Security Assessment Act. This proposed legislation aims to ensure that Members of Congress and their staff can fully evaluate border security on Indian reservations with at least fifty contiguous miles along the U.S. southern border. The intent is for lawmakers to fulfill their duty to inspect areas with heavy traffic and report any threats to national security, even if it requires accessing Indian reservations.

Congressman Biggs stated, “The Biden-Harris Administration opened wide our southern border, and Members of Congress must not be restricted from attempting to survey and report on the state of the chaos.” He emphasized that tribal police have previously hindered congressional access to these areas, which his legislation seeks to address as "unacceptable."

Brian Babin from Texas is a cosponsor of this legislation.

The bill's full text is available for public reading.
