The Heritage Academy community is celebrating a significant achievement as senior Alejandro Zayas Abril has advanced to the finalist stage for the prestigious Flinn Scholarship. The competition was fierce, with over 1,100 candidates from more than 200 high schools across Arizona vying for the honor. Now, only representatives from 35 schools remain in the running. Principal Heidi Udall expressed her excitement and encouraged support for Abril as he prepares for the final interview.

In other news, the upcoming state testing schedule has been announced. This year, all tests will take place during regular school hours, eliminating the need for adjusted drop-off or pick-up times. Parents can follow their usual routines.

There is an urgent reminder for students who have not yet submitted their course selection forms. These are past due and should be delivered to the front desk immediately, as PowerSchool is now closed for entries.

Additionally, any students with unpaid course fees face being dropped from their classes on Monday and reassigned to non-fee bearing classes.

The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is seeking volunteers to assist with running the lunch program. Without sufficient help, this service may be discontinued. Interested individuals can contact Amy Nyman at heritageacademy.pto@gmail.com for further information.

On a lighter note, staff members recently enjoyed a scavenger hunt during a meeting. This event provided an opportunity to explore different classrooms and facilities such as the math department's ballroom and the new FACS kitchen.

Principal Udall concluded by wishing everyone an enjoyable weekend.
