Four schools within the Kyrene School District have been honored with the 2025 Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF) A+ School of Excellence award. These awards follow successful site visits and bring the total number of Kyrene schools holding this recognition to twelve.

The recognized schools include Kyrene de las Brisas Elementary School, Kyrene de las Lomas Elementary School, Kyrene Monte Vista Elementary School, and Kyrene de la Mirada Leadership Academy. Notably, this marks the first time that Kyrene de las Lomas has received this distinction. Meanwhile, Kyrene de las Brisas and Kyrene de la Mirada are renewing their A+ status last awarded in 2020. Kyrene Monte Vista was previously acknowledged as an A+ School of Excellence in 2019.

To earn this recognition, schools undergo a comprehensive process involving a written application, on-site evaluations by trained judges, and active participation from faculty, students, and families. The evaluation covers areas such as school culture, curriculum, leadership quality, assessment data usage, and community involvement.

Each awarded school receives an A+ School of Excellence banner along with a $500 prize. For more information about all of Kyrene’s A+ Schools of Excellence, visit the Kyrene School District's website.
