Mesa expands hazardous materials facility hours starting July 3
Mesa is expanding the operating hours of its Household Hazardous Materials (HHM) Facility to facilitate safer disposal of hazardous waste by residents. Effective July 3, the facility at 2412 N. Center St. will be open from Wednesday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mesa's Gateway Library wins prestigious interior design award
Mesa’s newest library has won a 2024 Library Interior Design Award from the Commercial Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the American Library Association (ALA). The biennial IIDA/ALA competition recognizes excellence in library interior design and promotes examples of innovative design concepts in seven categories. The Gateway Library, which will be located at 5036 S. Eastmark Parkway in Southeast Mesa, was one of two winners in the “On the Boards” category, recognizing projects not yet built.

Mesa Police Department introduces anonymous reporting system for illegal fireworks
The Mesa Police Department has introduced a new method for residents to report illegal fireworks anonymously. From July 1, 2024, through July 6, 2024, individuals witnessing illegal firework activity can report it via the City of Mesa website (mesaaz.gov) under the “Residents” tab, “Police,” and then “Report Fireworks.” Residents have the option to submit requests anonymously before filing their complaints. These submissions generate emails sent to a specific mailbox monitored continuously.
