Gilbert, Ariz. - The second phase of a Union Pacific Railroad construction project along Heritage Trail in Gilbert will occur on Saturday, December 16. This phase involves the completion of improvements to a newly installed steel bridge. As a result, a partial closure of the trail and levee road is necessary, specifically in the area just south of Elliot and Lindsay Roads. The closure is scheduled to take place from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
According to Union Pacific, the closure is required for crews to lay asphalt on the approaches to the steel bridge. This closure will affect a portion of the bike path in the area, which will need to remain closed until the project is fully completed. However, Union Pacific assures the public that the trail, bike path, and levee road will be fully accessible by Sunday, December 17.
Residents and regular users of the Heritage Trail are advised to plan their routes accordingly and make appropriate adjustments to their schedules. The temporary closure is essential for the safe and efficient completion of the construction project. Union Pacific appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the community during this time.
In response to the upcoming closure, local cyclist Sarah Johnson expressed her understanding and support for the project, stating, "It's important for infrastructure to be maintained and improved to ensure the safety and convenience of all trail users. I'm confident that the temporary closure will result in a better and more enjoyable experience for everyone once the project is complete."
The Union Pacific Railroad construction project along Heritage Trail is an ongoing effort to enhance the infrastructure and ensure the longevity of the railway system. This project will ultimately contribute to the overall improvement of transportation in the area, benefiting both residents and businesses.
As the construction progresses, Union Pacific will continue to provide updates and information regarding any closures or disruptions. The company remains committed to minimizing inconveniences while prioritizing the safety of the public and its workers.
Residents and trail users are encouraged to stay informed about the progress of the project through official channels and to follow any instructions or detours that may be in place during the construction period.
