During the Aug. 15 Chandler City Council meeting, Chandler’s Economic Development Director Micah Miranda updated the Mayor and Council on economic trends, statistics, successes, opportunities the city is facing, and its vision for the future.

Below are highlights of the briefing:

- “Chandler has seen a significant increase in job growth over the past year,” Miranda stated. He attributed this growth to several new businesses opening in the area.

- The director also noted that “the unemployment rate in Chandler is currently below the national average,” reflecting a strong local economy.

- On housing, Miranda mentioned that “residential construction permits have increased by 20% compared to last year.”

- Addressing future opportunities, he emphasized that “there is potential for further development in technology and healthcare sectors.”

The council expressed optimism about these developments. Mayor Kevin Hartke commented, “We are pleased with the direction our city’s economy is heading.”

The meeting concluded with discussions on upcoming projects aimed at sustaining this economic momentum.
