Mesa Public Schools has initiated the search for a new superintendent following Dr. Andi Fourlis' announcement of her retirement, which will be effective on June 30, 2025. Board President Marcie Hutchinson revealed at a recent Governing Board meeting that Hazard, Young, Attea, & Associates (HYA), a national search firm, has been chosen to assist with recruiting and consulting.

The district is seeking community input through an online survey open to parents, students, educators, and other community members. The survey aims to gather opinions on the district's future leadership and the qualities deemed important in an effective superintendent. This feedback will inform the Governing Board's criteria for selecting Dr. Fourlis' successor.

The survey is available on the Mesa Public Schools website until November 8, 2024. The board encourages all stakeholders to participate and contribute to shaping the district's future.

Alongside the survey, HYA will hold focus group meetings with school and district staff to gather further insights into what the community needs from its new leader.

Key dates in the superintendent selection process include:

- October 29 - November 8, 2024: Community survey period

- November 12, 2024: Presentation of leadership profile at Board Meeting

- November 19, 2024: Deadline for superintendent applications

- November 25, 2024: Special board meeting to select finalists

- December 3-4, 2024: Finalist interviews and potential selection

The appointed superintendent is expected to assume their role on July 1, 2025.
