The City of Chandler's Golden Neighbors program is organizing a holiday event for senior residents on Wednesday, December 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. The gathering will take place at the Tumbleweed Recreation Center, Cotton Room, located at 745 E. Germann Road. Seniors attending can expect a hot breakfast, entertainment, and holiday gifts.
Chandler residents who wish to attend are encouraged to RSVP online at Golden Neighbors or contact the organizers by calling 480-782-4362 or emailing Neighborhood Programs. Additionally, community members can contribute to the gift list by purchasing items from an Amazon Wish List available online or by dropping off gifts at the Neighborhood Resources Department at 235 S. Arizona Ave., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., until December 16.
In addition to the senior celebration, Chandler's Neighborhood Resources Department offers a holiday shopping experience for youth living in public housing through its Site Bucks Store program. This initiative allows children to earn "site bucks" through positive behavior and participation in activities such as after-school programs and community events. These site bucks can be used to buy items like school supplies, toys, and clothing.
During the holiday season, the Site Bucks Store transforms into a venue where children can purchase gifts for their family members. Donations for this store are accepted until December 16 and can be made via an Amazon Wish List or by dropping off gifts or gift cards at the Housing and Redevelopment Office at 235 S. Arizona Ave.
For more information about these initiatives, visit Chandler Site Bucks Store or contact Lavaughan Ballesteros, Housing & Redevelopment Recreation Specialist, at 480-510-1023.
