Rep. Greg Stanton, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Arizona’s 4th district, has recently expressed his views on various international and domestic issues through a series of tweets. His comments highlight concerns about USAID's role in global affairs, the implications of reduced American presence on the world stage, and challenges faced by federal workers in Arizona.

On February 3, 2025, Rep. Stanton emphasized the importance of USAID's efforts in reducing conflict and combating terrorism worldwide. He noted that "USAID works to reduce conflict and combat terrorism." He further highlighted their disaster relief efforts that have aided his constituents' loved ones after significant events such as Libya's 2023 flood and the ongoing crisis in Sudan.

In another tweet posted on the same day, Stanton warned against America's diminishing presence globally, stating that it creates opportunities for other nations like China to fill the void. He argued that "America's absence on the world stage leaves a vacuum that China will eagerly fill." Stanton strongly criticized any moves to eliminate USAID, describing such actions as detrimental foreign policy decisions that are "plainly illegal" and potentially life-threatening.

Later that day, Stanton addressed domestic concerns regarding federal workers in Arizona affected by executive orders from the Trump Administration. He shared his meeting with members of AFGE Local 2382 to discuss these issues. In his words: "Federal workers in Arizona have had their careers put in jeopardy by the Trump Administration’s sweep of executive orders." He stressed the need to protect important agencies like the VA from what he termed "short-sighted political plays."
