Two students from Gilbert Public Schools have been recognized for their artistic contributions to promoting sustainability. Ava Goodwin, a sophomore at Gilbert Classical Academy (GCA), and Brooklyn Linarte from Campo Verde High School secured first and third places respectively in the Green Gilbert Artwork Contest. Their designs will be displayed on trash and recycling trucks across the Town of Gilbert.

Goodwin's artwork, which features a tree above Earth with the message “Think Green Act Clean,” earned her first place for the second consecutive year. She expressed her pride in participating again and credited her teacher at GCA for inspiring her artistic growth. "Mrs. Culley has really made art fun," said Goodwin.

Phaedra Culley, Goodwin’s teacher, praised her student’s talent, stating, “She’s such a phenomenal artist that I actually invited her to go straight into AP Art next year.”

Linarte's design incorporated a light bulb containing a cactus and desert landscape with the same slogan as Goodwin's piece. She aimed to symbolize new ideas and emphasize community preservation efforts. Lindsey Wallace, Linarte's teacher at Campo Verde High, commended her student's development over three years of study.

Gilbert Public Schools continues to support students' creative expression through quality art education programs available at both secondary and elementary levels.
