Mesa Public Schools is set to initiate a pilot program for ParentSquare, a communication app designed to improve interaction between parents, students, and school staff. This trial will commence in 15 selected schools during the week of October 15, 2024. The purpose of the pilot is to evaluate the app's effectiveness before considering a broader districtwide launch.

The participating schools include Edison Elementary, Entz Elementary, Field Elementary, Highland Arts Elementary, Irving Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Keller Elementary, Kerr Center for Agriscience, Lehi Elementary, Mesa Academy for Advanced Studies, Mesa High School, Rhodes Junior High, Stapley Junior High, Taylor Junior High, and Wilson Elementary.

The decision to test ParentSquare follows feedback from the Mesa Parent Council highlighting the need for improved two-way communication tools. The district explored various apps already in use and identified desirable features based on input from parents and educators. After evaluating several options over the summer through demonstrations and feedback from neighboring districts with similar systems in place, ParentSquare was chosen as the most suitable platform.

ParentSquare aims to streamline communication by enabling real-time messaging and updates in over 100 languages. This is intended to foster stronger connections between schools and families.

During this pilot phase, feedback will be collected from both parents and school staff to ensure a seamless transition. The results will guide Mesa Public Schools in planning a potential full-scale implementation aimed at the 2025-26 school year.
