Mesa Public Schools has initiated a program to recognize spotlight schools at the second board meeting of each month. Lehi Elementary was honored as the elementary spotlight school for October 2024. The recognition included a student, certified staff members, and a classified staff member.

Nevaeh Rizo was recognized as an outstanding student. Principal Teja Alleyne described Nevaeh as "a leader at heart," noting her active participation in Student Government and her role in school promotional activities. Alleyne praised Nevaeh's academic progress, attributing it to her determination and resilience. Beyond academics, Nevaeh is known for her compassion and willingness to help others.

The spotlight also shone on educators Maureen Roxborough, Hailey Edwards, and Perla Meza-Arriaga. Alleyne commended their teamwork and commitment to implementing Lehi Learning Expectations with a growth mindset. This approach has reportedly led to improvements in student achievement, particularly in English language development, ELA, and math.

Lidia Severeson was acknowledged as an outstanding classified staff member. She began her career at Lehi Elementary as a Facility Assistant and has grown into the role of Family Support Specialist. Alleyne highlighted Lidia's personal growth and her impact on the community through her work supporting families.

Each honoree was praised for their contributions to the school community, embodying the values that Mesa Public Schools seeks to promote.
