Porter and Washington Elementaries receive top state recognition

Porter Elementary and Washington Elementary have been honored with the A+ School of Excellence Award by the Arizona Education Foundation. This award represents the highest state-level recognition for public schools in Arizona.

Porter Elementary is recognized for its focus on STEM education, engaging students through hands-on projects such as the Sow It Forward garden. The school has been an AVID Showcase School for 11 years, emphasizing college and career readiness. Porter also holds an A-rating from the Arizona Department of Education, highlighting its commitment to student success.

Washington Elementary shares this distinction with an A-rating from the Arizona Department of Education. The school promotes leadership and literacy through programs like One School, One Book, PACK mentorship, and Walk to Read.

Mesa Public Schools boasts a total of ten A+ Schools, including Eisenhower Center for Innovation, Franklin Accelerated Academy - East Campus, Jefferson Elementary, Pomeroy Elementary, Red Mountain High School, K-8 STEM Academy at Red Mountain Ranch, Shepherd Junior High, Whitman Elementary along with Porter and Washington Elementaries.
