Legacy Traditional School honors fifth-grader as January athlete of the month

Legacy Traditional School – West Surprise has recognized Sydney Ortega as the Athlete of the Month for January 2025. Sydney, a fifth-grader, has been acknowledged for her significant contributions to the CAA Cheer Team.

Sydney's coach, Mrs. Kleinow, nominated her for this recognition. "Sydney has proven to be an outstanding team player, always willing to step in wherever she’s needed," Mrs. Kleinow stated. She highlighted Sydney's flexibility and eagerness to assist her teammates, whether in basing, back spotting, or other roles.

In addition to her cheerleading skills, Sydney is noted for her leadership qualities. She is described as a natural leader who ensures practices are both enjoyable and productive. Her discipline and strong work ethic have made her an essential member of the Wrangler Cheer Squad.

Sydney's achievements are not limited to athletics; she has also received multiple academic awards. Her coach remarked that "she is the perfect embodiment of a student-athlete, balancing athletics and academics with grace and discipline."
